I am an experienced community organiser and scholar-activist,
known for problem-solving and responding to social need through the collaborative ideation, founding and development of community-based enterprises and initiatives.

Politics
As a teen, I was taught American histories of colour and developed leadership skills in the Multicultural Students Union at Holy Names Academy. My politics were further shaped by anti-racist, feminist and queer currents amongst my Seattle artist and creative communities.
I am trained in undoing institutional racism through community organising as an alumnae of the Tyree Scott Summer Freedom School.
Theory
My theory is underpinned by a liberal arts undergraduate education to which intersectional feminist and ethnic studies were central, alongside a Mathematics and Creative Writing double major. My postgraduate degrees are in Critical Entrepreneurship Studies.
I use intersectional feminist theory combined with critical realism to develop my sociotechnical perspective on the digital entrepreneurial economy, informed by anti-racist and decolonial approaches.
My latest book, Intersectional Mysticism, integrates spirituality, scientific and community organising traditions. I am publishing this as a weekly serial at Mangrove Road on Substack.
Practice
I have extensive experience as an activist and community organiser. I have been a feminist blogger, Union representative and caseworker, and have co-founded, co-directed and contributed to four organisations: Youth Speaks Seattle, QTIPOC Notts, Decolonizing Alliance, and Building the Anti-Racist Classroom. I also initiated and lead the Intersectional Critical Realist Feminisms discussion group.
With Decolonizing Alliance colleagues I collaboratively developed two artist-activist initiatives: 1) Recuerdos LAEMOS archival project for the Latin American Management and Organization Studies conference (2006-2018) and 2) Six Spoons of Sumud: Digging the Way to Freedom, centring Palestinian and diasporic perseverance under occupation.
Scholar-Activism at Work
At Loughborough University, I was consecutively Advocacy Lead, Student Liaison, and Co-Chair for the BAME Staff Network (2019-2023). For the network I generated a portfolio of initiatives in response to community-identified issues, including a leadership award with financial bonus for 23 staff members, online movement classes during COVID lockdowns, BAME student leadership budget, training and mentoring, and grief circle for Palestine.
For the wider university I initiated the Collective Anti-Racist Efforts (CARE) x Citizens UK Training and Listening Campaign, Race Equity Town Hall, BAME Student Council and Doctoral Consortium, and the LU Freedom School Pilot (2022-23).
I also served as Strategic Architect, Race Equity Strategy (2021-2022) and proposed and developed key University governance structures, strategies, and policies for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, as well as obtained a significant recurring institutional budget for race equity activities.
